Project Manager (Entry Level)

We are a growing company, and a successful candidate will become an integral part of our business-development strategy. We seek applicants with superb organizational skills, a knack for self-management, and the ability to learn quickly on the job. The ideal candidate will display the commitment and dedication necessary to guide complex, unique projects from start to finish, as well as the capacity to take ownership of tasks and proactively manage all resources involved. No direct project management experience is necessary as we will teach you what you need to know about our specific type of project management. We do however require that candidates possess basic/intermediate knowledge of key IT concepts (i.e. servers, switches, routers, firewalls). This position is optimal for a self-starter who enjoys being challenged and wants to develop a broad IT-management skillset. Our company and its clients contain a range of cultures, backgrounds, and personalities, so a talent for tact, diplomacy, and interpersonal relations is essential.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (minimum)
  • Thorough understanding of key IT concepts and familiarity with network infrastructure
  • Ability to manage multiple personality types and cultivate buy-in from various departments
  • Experience with Microsoft Office suite; including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Ability to manage multiple ongoing projects and work under tight deadlines
  • Ability to think critically
  • Ability to work well with a team in high-pressure situations

Helpful Qualification

  • Formal training or certifications pertaining to project management, e.g. PMP, CAPM, Project+, ITIL, Prince2
  • Familiarity with ticketing systems, e.g. AutoTask, ConnectWise, TrackIT, FootPrints
  • Experience with IT-monitoring tools, e.g. N-able, Kaseya, SolarWinds

Responsibilities

Our clients hire us to install, integrate, configure, and maintain business-grade IT solutions. These solutions typically include backend infrastructural technologies—high-performance servers, switching fabrics, hypervisors, storage-area networks, etc.

The Project Manager is responsible for coordinating schedules and setting timelines for our engagements with clients. The Project Manager balances the needs of our in-house engineering team, account managers, administrative staff, and clients in a way that allows us to meet our obligations. The Project Manager takes ownership of project timelines, deadlines, and reporting.

Responsibilities associated with the Project Manager position include, but are not limited to:

  • Leading projects from start to finish: planning, implementing, forecasting, tracking
  • Enforcing project timelines and budgets
  • Managing the company ticketing system
  • Cultivating client relationships through phone calls, face-to-face interaction, and proactive service offerings
  • Tracking engineer availability and overall project status
  • Measuring productivity and profitability of projects
  • Resolving billing disputes
  • Creating Project Packets that contain:
    • Easily understandable project timelines, such as Gantt charts
    • Pre-installation checklists
    • Acceptance Test Procedures
  • Facilitating communication—at regular intervals—between clients, account managers, engineers, and management
  • Acting as an internal liaison between various company departments, including executive management, engineering, sales, administration, and technical writing
